Making A Toffee Crunch Cheese Cake

I decided to make my first real NY style cheese cake, actually my first of any cheesecakes.The NY style is where you cook it in a water bath. First things first , this will probably be the most unhealthy cake you ever eat. However it will be totally worth it.

First you must make the ginger snap crust. This a few cups of ginger snap cookies blended up, with 5 table spoons of melted butter. Mix together ,then press into spring pan. I used a 9.5 inch pan.Also you must cover the outside of the pan with 3 layer is foil. This will help seal the pan from the water getting in.(You'll see why).

The cheese cake portion calls for 4 packages of cream cheese ,so I decided to use light cream cheese as to lessen my guilt.Then you add 5 eggs and a cup up packed brown sugar. Blend and pour into the spring pan that already has you ginger snap crust in it. Make sure you grease the sides of the pan.

The oven will be preheated to 350. Put the cake pan into roasting pan and fill the roaster with water until the water in half way up the cake pan. Put the lid on the roaster and place in oven. Bake for 1 hr and 10 minutes, or until the middle is a little jiggly ,but not too jiggly. I baked for exactly 1 hr and 10 minutes.

The topping is where I had a little mishap. Combine white sugar, water and lemon juice in sauce pan. Heat on low until mixture is clear and then turn up heat and bring to boil. Boil until mixture is an amber colour and do not stir while the mixture is boiling just swirl the pan a few times. Once the mixture has changed to an amber colour add in the heavy cream. This the point where the mishap happened. Please note that when you add the cream the mixture will react and bubble up a lot. So either use a deep pot or add the cream very slowly.Cleaning my stove after this was not fun. You can see pictures on my flicker.Once this has boiled for another 10 minutes remove from heat and cool in the fridge for about 30 minutes.You want the topping to be cool but not solid as you will be spooning this onto the cake.

When the cheese cake is cooked and cooled start to spoon the cooled topping onto the cake and don't let it run over the side like I did. This won't ruin anything it just looks better. You will need to cut up some score bars and sprinkle them around the edge and this will help to keep the topping from running down the sides.

Chill the cake (still in the pan) for 2 to 6 hrs.Once chilled place on serving dish and pop open the cake pan and that is it. Keep this cake chilled so the topping doesn't run off the cake.

Friday's Big Bizarre - Sept. 25/09

Do you remember the early to mid 1990's? I don't really think about it much, but I can across a video that made me laugh at how terrible some of the music was from then and how bad the clothes really where. Remember the guys wearing those two tone shirts that button up with polka dots on one half? The colored jeans, they came in yellow, red , green etc. LOL. How bad the style was back then. There was some good toward the later years. So just to take you back so you can fully remember just take a look at this video. The dancing is super awesome(insert sarcasm here) , lol. It's good though because at the time it was the shit.

Zombie Boy - Why Oh Why

How do I begin? I was looking at good old Fail blog and noticed a picture of a tattoo fail and on the picture was a link to another pretty funny site. This site is dedicated to bad & idiotic tattoos. Honestly when you go to this site , or if you do , you will not believe that people are so stupid. It's pretty hilarious actually to think people like this are walking around up right.

So here is the one I found on the tattoo site. It was a man and he was named Zombie boy. So what kind of a person goes this far? I mean not say he is a bad person or anything like that. I just mean what was he thinking and how did he come up with this idea? Why would you want to live your life like this? I mean one day you are going to be an old man. How are you going to look as an old man? I don't know, I guess to each his own,but come on.

I start to think what kind of a job does he have and what does his family think? Geez, my parents hated it when I got my nose pierced way back when. I can't imagine what his parents must think, unless they have similar tattoos. Maybe his dad is Lizard man (http://www.thelizardman.com/) from the Jim Rose circus sideshow? I guess it comes down to whatever makes you happy. However if you do check out the site(ugliesttatoos) then you will some gems.

Somebody has a case of the Mondays

Here we are again at the start of the work week. I think it is the most dreaded day of the week. I myself get a really nauseous feeling Sunday nights because I know I have to start the week and Friday is so far away.If Monday was an ice cream it would dick and asshole flavor. Let's be honest most of us feel that way. Why else would there be a song about it. If you are wondering it is "I don't like Mondays" By the Boom town rats.As far as I know that song came about because of a true story about a man that went on a shooting spree,I think it was anyway. Then when he was asked why he did it,he said "I don't like Mondays." That of course is an extreme case of hating Monday.

So how do we get through a Monday?Well I found three tips while browsing the Internet.

1# Prepare ahead of time.Relax on Sunday night chill on the couch watch your favorite t.v show or move and make sure you get to bed at a decent hour.

2# Deny. Live in denial until you have to face Monday. Not the best option but it may work for some people. I myself can't because on Sunday all I can think is Monday is right around the corner.

3# On Monday do something nice for your self, go out to lunch. This way it breaks up the day and seems to go faster. That would be my favorite option.

In the end we can't escape it,Monday always comes and comes too fast. We only get 48 hours of time off from work. It doesn't seem fair dose it? If you are like me most of that time is spend doing things we must do not things we want to do. I need to make more time for the things I want to do as apposed to the things I must do. I doubt that will happen but one must give it try.

In the end we can try and look on the bright side,Monday is only once a week and we will survive it , we always do.

Okay, this is not so much a bizarre clip as just so funny. I love this scene in So I married and axe murderer. What makes it even funnier then what Mike Myers is saying,is that the actor beside him is trying so hard not to laugh out loud. I am sure the laughing is honest. I know I couldn't hold it in if I was actually sitting there.

Here is something that always has frosted my cookies,....People that just say whatever rude thing they want to others and seem to get away with it. WTF? I have to say when I experience this I usually say to friend "did you hear that ?" or" guess what "Larry" said". The reply to me from them is usually well it's "Larry" what do you expect. So that is a reason that "Larry" can get away with never being told he is rude and hurtful? I am sure if I said something out of line that I would be told about it and do you know why? I'll tell you, b/c if you are a person that does not say rude things or speak without thinking then you can't get away with it b/c that just isn't you. How fair is that? Not to say that people should say rude or slightly insulting things away, but you know from time to time people slip. I just hate when those people like "Larry" can just go through life saying whatever the hell they want and nobody says boo to them b/c that is the way he is, and he the way he is b/c nobody says anything. It drives me nuts!

The times I think I have said something and it was kind of rude, it plagues me for days. Sometimes I even bring it up the next time I see the person I might have offend in order to say sorry, and most times they don't even remember. This venting today was just brought on by an experience this past weekend. I just can't let people like "Larry" get away with that crap. Not to say the "Larry's" of this world are bad people b/c that is not what I am saying , I just think that if it is not pointed out to them they will never watch what they say. However saying something to these people sometimes gets you in trouble. That is bull too, b/c finally something is said and b/c you are not the type to say "rude" things it seems you are being mean to the "Larry" type. Anyway it seems to me there is no answer, however I am not going to stop letting the "Larry's" of this world know that they have offended me. I am not mean about it , I just let them know that it was not something you should have said now or at all. Somethings you need to say inside your own head and you'll be better off for it. I think we all have a "Larry" around or you might even be a "Larry". If you might think you could be a "Larry" type just do a second take before your thoughts come out your mouth. It might save you tongue lashing if you offend the wrong person.

Gong Show Vol.2 - Friday's Big Bizarre

I had no words after watching this "act" as I almost peed myself from laughing so hard. I hope this gets a good laugh out of a few people. I also wondered what makes people do such things? Gong Show Vol. 1 - Popsicle lickers

So I was searching on my favorite website (eBay) and Google for some Popsicle molds. Since the summer is on it's way I wanted to start to make some tasty treats. In my search for Popsicle molds I came across a video clip form the old t.v show The Gong Show. I am not sure how many people remember this show, but the whole idea was that regular people would come on the show and show off their talent or better yet what they thought was talent. Most of the time the acts where so terrible they would get the "GONG" hence the title of the show. The judges were popular celebrities at the time. The show ran from 1976 to 1980, and from 1988-1989.So anyway the whole point is that I came across this clip of the Gong Show which has two girls preforming their talent with Popsicles.I found it somewhat strange and amusing and thought other people with the same bazaar sense of humor as me would appreciate it.

I was driving to work this morning and I began to think about some random things and as I drove I started to get angry at some or almost all of the people on the road. I was thinking about how selfish people can be and there is no common decency around anymore and this has been for long time now. Whatever happened to the wave thanks when letting another car in? Now it's you let me through or I'll hit your car. What the hell is wrong with people? I know I will never get the answer, but I am sure it's a question you might have asked yourself at least once. AS I was thinking about my current driving situation I then started to get hot under the collar about the parking at my new condo. I understand that the building isn't 100% finished and the underground parking will soon be completed, so this problem I am about to speak about won't be continuous. However, right now I am dealing with it and again brings up the question of how can people be so selfish and really such jerks?! There are limited parking spots right now near my building so everybody has to do their best to park as neatly and neighbor friendly as possible or so you would think. I just have to say when I see a section that 3 or 4 cars could patiently fit in I don't just pull in and take up a spot that 2 cars could park in. I try my best to get as close to the other car as possible without getting to close as not to piss off the owner of that car. I now think I am the only person in the building that thinks this way, because every time I come home and there are no spots left I drive around the lot and see all kinds of huge gaps where if the driver of that car pulled in a little close one or two cars could park as well. Why do you need 3-4 feet on either side of your car to get out? Selfish, selfish people and I just get so mad at the total lack of cutesy for other people. I guess I should have mentioned earlier that there are no yellow lines painted on the ground yet, and this is why we are having this problem. Are most of the human race such idiots that we really do need those yellow lines? Well the answer is a resounding YES! I swear if those lines where there right now, we wouldn't have this problem. AHHH! It just makes me want to scream! I just had to get that off my chest and that is only the tip of the iceberg. Anyway ,please if anybody can feel my pain don't be one of these people that are selfish, at the very least just remember to say thanks to anybody that holds a door open or give a wave if somebody lets you in while drive. I think a little goes a long way.

Trailer Park Boys -The movie #2

So as most of us know by now, there will be a second Trail Park Boys movie(Count down to liquor day). I assume like me most of us fans where hoping and praying that this would happen.

From what I have found surfing the net ,the movie wrapped on October 10th and will in the theaters this fall.Check out the link for the trailer :

I believe this will be as good if not the finest piece from the TPB. As with every TPB plot ,the boys are released from jail and go back the their home at the trailer park to take on the new trail park supervisor (Not Jim Lahey).This new park supervisor is meaner and wants to change a lot of things in the park and the boys do not like this idea.

So far from watching the trailer my favorite part is when Bubbles says Randy is hooking for cheeseburgers. I can't wait to see that. There is one thing however that I need to know.......Is Jim Lahey in this new movie?If he isn't then I retract my above statement about this movie being the finest piece.If Lahey is not in this movie, well that is like a hamburger with no cheese.

To be or not to Be?

So this is my first post and something that I must let you all know is that I love movies. I am a nerd for movies. I'm great to have on a team for movie or T.V trivia games, but I digress.

I was surfing the web as I do occasionally and I came across some troubling news. It's seems there will be a Donnie Darko part 2. I believe my first thought was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Why on God's green earth would this be a good idea? It clearly isn't ,in my humble option. I love the first one so much I feel this new one will be so bad that it will forever taint the original for me .I may give this movie a look as I am some what interested in how bad it will be. Whomever had this bright idea must have had a brain tumor for breakfast the day he or she had this gem of an idea.

Clearly the first movie was never meant to have a part 2. This new Darko will be focused on his sister taking a road trip across country to become a dancer and she starts having visions. Sounds like a great plot, note the sarcasm.Is there any possibility it could be good and my gut instinct is wrong? I don't bet on it. I did take a look at the trailer on the official site. Not too impressed, time will tell. I will surely be back on this topic to give my thoughts after viewing this new Darko.

I had to make this as my first blog because I was so mortified at this idea and I had to share my feelings and wondered could others share my feelings? I needed to vent on this as it is one of those things that will not go away and there is nothing that I can do to change it. Oh what a world ,what a world.
